BASSE-NORMANDIE

Basse-Normandie is a region where innovation and high-tech have a prime position, centred on leading-edge industries such as electronics or plastic processing and specialised activities in major industries such as the automotive or food and beverage industries.

Basse-Normandie comprises three "départements" (French county): Calvados, Manche and Orne, representing 17 568 km² and with 1 449 000 inhabitants.

HAUTE- NORMANDIE

Haute-Normandie is a highly industrialised region.
In 2006, the gross added value from industry was significantly higher than the national average, putting the region in second place in the industry ranking.
However, it is the service sector which is creating the most wealth and which is the most dynamic in terms of creating businesses (49.8 % of the region's new businesses).

The regional economy is also characterised by high productivity (5th rank in GDP per job in the region) and by a high GDP per inhabitant (7th in France).
